What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is simply being in a comfortable relaxed state. In fact, we have all experienced being in a trance at some time – whilst staring out of a train window, drifting off to sleep or even that trance-like state we can find ourselves in whilst driving!

Contrary to popular films and some stage shows, there is no mystery about trance. You are conscious, in control and can wake up at any time you want. Hypnotherapy is a very pleasant sensation and usually leaves us feeling like we’ve been on holiday, but without suffering the airport queues!

Hypnotherapists use this relaxed state to make positive suggestions to the unconscious mind. This is the wise, intuitive part of us that works constantly without us being aware of it e.g. regulating our body systems such as blood pressure and heart rate.

When we put beneficial suggestions to this part of our mind, it is then much easier to eliminate unwanted habits.

A hypnotherapy session

We would begin with a discussion about what you would like to change or improve. We would also discuss how many sessions you may need. One session may be enough, although for more deep seated problems, you may need a longer program of up to six sessions.

If you are in agreement, you would be encouraged to enter a relaxed state whilst listening to soothing music and positive suggestions are made. A personalized CD might be given to play at home to help increase the benefits.

Naturally everything discussed within the session is always in complete confidence.

Prices start from £30. For home visits, a small extra charge will be made to cover travel time and expenses.
